Located in the heart of Eugene, Oregon, the University of Oregon stands on Kalapuya ilihi, the traditional homeland of the Kalapuya people. This land holds deep historical significance, as the Kalapuya people were dispossessed of their ancestral lands following treaties between 1851 and 1855 and were forcibly relocated by the U.S. government to reservations in Western Oregon. The descendants of the Kalapuya today are primarily members of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, representing a vital link to the region's indigenous heritage.

Eugene, a city renowned for its diverse and vibrant culture, forms an integral part of the university's identity. Known for its commitment to the arts, environmentalism, and progressive values, the city's ethos resonates throughout the campus. The university benefits from its location in the picturesque Pacific Northwest, surrounded by the stunning landscapes of the Cascade Mountains and the Pacific Coast. This proximity to nature not only enhances the beauty of the campus but also underscores the university's dedication to environmental studies and sustainability.

The university's location offers a unique blend of cultural and economic opportunities. Eugene's dynamic economy, encompassing technology, manufacturing, and recreation, provides a fertile ground for student internships and research, extending learning beyond the classroom. The campus itself is a blend of green spaces and architectural diversity, mirroring Eugene's artistic spirit and commitment to sustainability. Furthermore, the university's close proximity to Portland opens additional avenues for cultural and educational experiences.

At the University of Oregon, the location is more than just a physical setting; it is a canvas of historical, cultural, and environmental narratives that enrich the educational journey. It's where history, culture, and nature converge, offering students a unique environment to learn, grow, and prepare for the future.
