Embracing Sustainability at RBC 2024

As we gear up for the much-anticipated Regional Business Conference 2024, our conference team is committed to making this event a shining example of sustainability. Recognizing the urgent need to reduce our ecological footprint, we are implementing a range of eco-friendly initiatives to ensure that the conference not only fosters professional growth but also leaves a positive impact on the planet.

From the moment attendees register, we are encouraging a paperless experience by providing electronic materials, minimizing the need for printed materials. The University of Oregon itself prioritizes energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable practices. Our catering partners are committed to sourcing local, organic, and ethically produced food, offering a delicious and environmentally conscious culinary experience.

Attendees can also expect waste management solutions, including recycling stations strategically placed throughout the venue, as well as many water bottle filling stations, encouraging attendees to reuse, rather than throw away. As we embark on this journey towards a more sustainable future, the Regional Business Conference 2024 aims to inspire not only professional growth but also a collective commitment to environmental stewardship. Join us in shaping a conference experience that reflects our dedication to a greener, more sustainable world.

Sustainability at UO

Mission

The Office of Sustainability’s mission is to lead the integration of sustainability into the University of Oregon’s operations, curriculum, co-curriculum, research, and engagement with the community. We accomplish this by maintaining a diverse portfolio of activities that are organized into the following five focus areas.

Climate Action Plan

The University of Oregon’s Climate Action Plan is part of a growing number of voluntary efforts to reduce emissions across the world, from colleges and universities to governmental and private sector commitments at local, regional, state, national, and international levels. The university recognizes that as a public institution of research and education, its leadership and example are an important contribution to a global effort that reaches across all sectors of society to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, transition away from fossil fuels, and plan for resiliency as we face effects from climate change.

Commitment

The University of Oregon is committed to the triple bottom line and has become a national leader in campus sustainability. The University of Oregon is actively engaged in greening facility operations, innovative research, supporting and encouraging student initiatives, implementing environmentally and sustainability focused curriculum, and sponsoring public service initiatives.

Office of Sustainability

The UO’s Office of Sustainability has launched scores of projects and programs and become a national leader in this new and growing field. Taking an incremental and entrepreneurial approach to our work, we collaborate with willing partners to drive sustainability principles, practices, and programming into operations, academics, co-curriculum, athletics, and community engagement.
